Leo Franco does alternative work apart from his teammates
Leo Franco continues to recover from his injury and wasn’t able to return to the group on Thursday, May 17th. Instead, he continued to carry out alternative work alongside physical trainer/strength coach, Óscar Pitillas. The novelties in the practice were José Manuel Jurado and Roberto Jiménez, who returned to the Atletico discipline after participating in a mini-camp with the Under-21 National team. Atlético de Madrid C players Cárdenas and Pizarraya also took part in the practice.
The training session wasn’t excessively long and lasted barely 75 minutes. After doing several variations of small-sided keep-away in the middle of the field, Javier Aguirre let the ball take centre stage and practiced attacking and defending plays.
The Mexican manager drew up different drills with a double motive: to face an attack with a stationary defence and releasing the ball for counter-attacks. He set up two teams, one with green pinnies that was made up of the following footballers: Roberto; Perea, Pablo, Zé Castro, Antonio López; Galletti, Luccin, Gabi, Pizarraya; Kun Agüero and Mista. Opposite them were: Pichu; Seitaridis, Cárdenas, Eller, Pernía; Costinha, Maniche, Miguel, Maxi; Petrov and Torres. The first of the two teams was victorious by a score of 2-0, with the goals coming from Mista and Galletti.
